A corset drafted in ivory silk brocade, its gold vine of rose and bud running unbroken across every panel. The body is built in multiple shaped panels, boned throughout, lightly padded at the bust and fully lined, cut to a straight neckline and dropped to a sharp angular V at the front hem. The back closes on ribbon lacing threaded through metal eyelets, drawn over a modesty panel that keeps the line clean and the fit adjustable. A detachable cape of pleated satin sits apart from it — gathered at the shoulders, falling from the arms in a soft collar — worn or set aside as one wishes. Shown here with a draped satin skirt, gathered high at one hip and released long ere it reaches the floor.

The corset is where the labour lies. Panel upon panel, each shaped and fitted separately, bones set and cased, eyelets placed by hand and pressed one at a time — nothing here is approximated. It was made true to its form because a corset that is not built properly cannot be worn properly; the fit is the whole of it, hence the many rounds of shaping ere it settled. The brocade was cut so its vine carries across every seam. A corset with a draped skirt has long been a thing the founder wished to make: the ethnic drape and the structured Western bodice, set together without either giving way. The result is chic and unmistakably feminine, and something rather more than that — a goddess bearing, held upright by the cloth itself.
