Bhoori Machhli

A fish in deep espresso lacquer with hand-drawn cream scales, a single dot for the eye, and a forked tail. Carved, painted, and sealed by hand.

The craft behind it: Each button is turned and carved from wood by lacquer artisans of Banaras, a craft carried through families for generations. Colour is layered by hand on the lathe, then detail drawn in with a fine brush — dot by dot, line by line. Every piece is finished individually, sealed in gloss, and left slightly its own. Nothing here is machine-made.
